Read what you love all summer long!

As part of Summer Reading at TCPL, we team up with local businesses and use funds donated by the Bernard Carl and Shirley Rosen Library Fund Community Foundation of Tompkins County to give away raffle prizes!

We have separate prizes for different age ranges, all the way from pre-readers through adults! A list of prizes available this year for each age group is at the bottom of this page.

Here is how to enter.

Teenagers and Adults

Write a short review or draw a picture to represent your most recent read using this form:

You can return as many entries as you like in-person at the library or by taking a picture and emailing it to summer@tcpl.org between now and August 23.

Youth (through age 12)

Use this booklet to log and rate books:

Track your reading by coloring in a flower for every day you read 20 minutes or more. Complete the 10 objectives listed inside the booklet and color our summer chameleon.

Parents and caregivers of babies and pre-readers: Read to your child and complete activities together! Exploring the world is a crucial building block of early literacy.

At the end of the summer, share your progress with us and be entered into our raffle to win prizes!

Write your name, age, and how we can reach you.

There are 10 objectives, one for each week of Summer Reading. You can do them in any order. When you complete an objective, color in the corresponding number on our chameleon, Hue.

1. Tell a friend or family member about a book you really liked.
    
2. Read for 20 minutes outside.
    
3. Go to a library desk and ask for a book recommendation.
    
4. Come to a library program or event. They are free!
    
5. Choose a book with a color in the title.
    
6. Borrow a museum or park pass from the Library of Things.
    
7. Borrow an eBook or eAudiobook using Hoopla or Libby.
    
8. Tell, write, or draw your day – or make up a story!
    
9. Play a game with a friend or family member.
    
10. Read a book recommended by a friend or family member.

Return your challenge by taking a photograph and emailing it to summer@tcpl.org or bring it back to the Library. It’s OK if you can’t finish everything – you can still enter our raffle!

We will draw winners at our Reading Celebration on August 23rd. (You don’t have to be present to win, but there will be free ice cream from Cayuga Lake Creamery!)
