Digital Lab
Techies and emerging computer learners alike will find themselves at home in the digital lab. A place to hone your knowledge and expertise, the digital lab features classes on making the best use of digital library resources, instruction in using online tools for searching for employment, assistance creating online accounts (email, social media such as Facebook or Twitter, and social services), and support in learning to use productivity tools like Microsoft Office, genealogy software, and resume building programs.
Learn One-on-One
Book a librarian, or volunteer technology tutor, for help with digital downloads or computer basics. TCPL staff will work with you for an hour to guide you through the steps of borrowing an ebook, saving files to a USB drive, or any other technology question that has you stumped.
Contact tfredette@tcpl.org or visit the events calendar to make an appointment.
Share Your Skills
Are you a Microsoft Excel or Photoshop power user, a digital native familiar with the current trends in social media, or someone with a passion for helping others develop important career skills? Consider sharing your knowledge in the digital lab.
Contact Digital Lab Librarian Tom at tfredette@tcpl.org, or complete the co-sponsored program application to submit your idea for an event.
Attend an Event
We offer a variety of workshops for children, teens, and adults. Learn from a professional while developing the necessary technology skills needed for success in the 21st century. Library events are always free for participants.
Digital Lab Equipment
The lab features a fleet of laptop computers, equipped with both Windows 10 and Macintosh OS X operating systems. The classroom environment is currently able to seat up to 16 patrons, and includes two large screen monitors, dry erase whiteboards, and audio visual equipment suitable for meeting video conferencing needs.
Lab Open Hours
We are not offering open lab hours at this time. Please check back for updates (last updated on 2/28/23).
Open lab hours will provide an opportunity for patrons to drop in and get help with their basic technology questions. Patrons will be helped on a first come, first served basis. The current schedule for the open lab is Wednesday mornings, from 10-11 am. Please note that this schedule is subject to change, based upon the demand for open hours, library staff schedules, and events that require the use of the digital lab.
