TCPL Mobile Checkout
Tompkins County Public Library now has a mobile app that allows you to check out books directly from your smartphone or other enabled device.
The app, available for iOS and Android devices, includes a digital version of your library card that can be used just like your regular library card. If allowed to access your device's camera, it can also scan the barcodes on books so you can check them out immediately without waiting in line.
The app also allows you to see a list of items you currently have on loan, and check the status of your hold requests.

Once you log in, select "Borrow" from the icons at the bottom of the screen. A mobile version of your library card will appear. That bar code can be scanned at any of TCPL's four full-services desks or four self-checkout machines.
From the screen with your library card, tap the "Borrow Items" button in the center of the screen. It will activate your device's camera, which you can use to scan the barcode for a book.
Once you do that, you're done! The book is checked out and ready for you to take it with you to read at your pleasure.
