Program Description

About this event:

This is a 30-minute meditation session led by Anna Salamone RN, LCSW, certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher. MBSR is a means for reducing stress, improving our capacity for attention, boosting the immune system, reducing emotional reactivity, and promoting a general sense of health and well-being. The Wednesday sessions offer the opportunity to practice stepping out of "automatic pilot" mode and becoming aware of the workings of the mind, body, and emotions on a moment-to-moment basis. Mindfulness meditation is defined as "paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally."

Ms. Salamone has been a student of meditation since 1991 and has received extensive training at the Center for Mindfulness, Healthcare, and Society founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She has been leading classes in Ithaca since 2007.
