Program Description

About this event:

Come learn in this lecture series from Cornell graduate students how clingy ticks, dairying ants and talking beetles interact with us and each other.

You're probably familiar with the ants that terrorize your kitchen, but how much do you know about the local ants of the Finger Lakes region? Come examine specimens under a microscope and learn about the diversity of ants, where you can see ants in Ithaca and outside, and how to be a good neighbor to our ant friends.

Leland Graber is a first year PhD student at Cornell University studying the evolution of ants as well as how ants have used the bacteria that live inside of them to become one of the most successful insect groups on the planet. He likes other bugs, too, and has worked on honey bees, mosquitoes, and springtails.
