Retired Librarian

I retired in 2012, having spent most of my working career as both a public and academic librarian. I moved to Ithaca in 2014, to be near my son and grandchildren. The first place I visited was TCPL. I have volunteered at the library, at the Friends of the Library book sale, and with the Beautification Project gardeners (taking care of the library plants). Yes, I want to serve this community, but also I want to learn more about this community and this is my way to do that.

I absolutely believe that the library remains one (if not the only) public institution where everyone can get, to be blunt, bang-for-their-buck. The energy and humanity that brings librarians to this profession is essential to our democracy and the public that drives that democracy. Yes, I believe in service, service that reflects and sustains every person in the community.

I retired, and I missed that.

Term Expires December 31, 2026
