Program Description

About this event:

Do you have old family photos, film or videos that you would like to convert to a digital format?  Now you can for free at the library!  During this hour long session a librarian will help you use our conversion equipment for your genealogical projects. Professional advice on how to preserve and store your your originals is also available.  Please limit yourself to one appointment; patrons who have had a one-on-one can arrange time to finish their projects at the Librarian's discretion. You are responsible for keeping on schedule with your appointment.  Remember to bring an SD card, thumb drive, or digital hard drive so you can take your images home with you.

Materials that can be converted include:

8mm & Super8 reel film

Slides

Photographic negatives

Photos & Photo Albums (scans of full album pages)

VHS, DVD, & Hi8

Standard size audio cassette tapes

Books, maps, and oversize documents

 

This program is only for the conversion of personal materials that you own the rights to.  We cannot transfer copyrighted materials.

We cannot transfer 16mm reels or any camera tapes aside from VHS or Hi8. 

Movies of all formats are converted in real time.  Please do not bring a movie that cannot be converted in under an hour.
