Program Description

About this event:

Plunge into Norse Myth through the power of poetry and storytelling! In this workshop storyteller and poet Jay Leeming will tell stories of the gods and heroes of Norse mythology, and participants will then write their way into deeper connection with these stories through their own words. No previous poetry writing experience is required.

Jay Leeming has spent years telling stories in classrooms, around campfires, and in the high mountains of Yosemite National Park. He is the author of the poetry books Dynamite on a China Plate (Backwaters Press, 2006) and Miracle Atlas (Writers and Books, 2011). He has taught poetry workshops throughout the United States and abroad, and is the recipient of a Creative Writing Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. He lives in Ithaca, New York, where he served as Tompkins County Poet Laureate from 2009-2011.
