Program Description

About this event:

Civic Ensemble invites health & wellness practitioners of color to join us for a story circle event exploring health in our community. We are embarking on our next Community-based play, a project in which we will develop a new professional play over the next year, rooted in the stories of our local community.

In partnership with Minnesota-based playwright Katie Ka Vang, we're exploring the question "What does it mean to be well?" We are interested in wellness as it relates to the physical and mental state, as well as a community’s wellness in relation to racism, poverty, and inequality. Who has access to healthcare, to healthy food, to healing modalities, to the belief that one can be well? How do the wounds of oppression live in the body and in a community?

In this participatory Story Circle gathering, we will invite you to share your experiences and listen to others.

Pre-registration is encouraged, as space is limited: https://forms.gle/fdMZjPKR8izn1YYW8
