Program Description

About this event:

This is a dance class series taught by Amanda Moretti.  Butoh is a modern Japanese dance form focusing on slow, expressive movements.  Classes will take place on the last four Sundays in March in Borg Warner West from 3:00-4:30pm.  Wear comfortable clothing and prepare to get creative!

Amanda Moretti has BA in dance from Naropa Institute. She studied Butoh in Montreal, London and NYC w Catrina Von Radecki, Masaki Iwana, and many other teachers. For the past 8 years she has participated in workshops and classes with Butoh teacher Vangeline from Vangeline Theater in NYC. She choreographed and directed a Butoh piece in 2015 "Hommage to Federico Garcia Lorca" that was presented at the first Ithaca Fringe Festival. She writes "Butoh is working deeply in the body and draws out the expression that has been hidden. It is a way of knowing oneself beyond the outside image and allows for transformation minute by minute through the body in movement." All are welcome.
