About this event:

PLEASE NOTE: THE EVENT IS NOW CLOSED TO ADDITIONAL READERS. We received more requests to read than we have time to accommodate. We will draw names randomly from the pool of people who want to read. You are still welcome to register as an audience member, though!

Join us for Spring Writes Open Mic! Local poets and prose writers will have the opportunity to showcase their work during this free open mic event, open to writers of all ages and experience levels. This event is also open to community members who want to be part of our audience.

If you are interested in being a reader, please indicate that in the registration form and we will get in touch with you. If you are interested an attending as an audience member, registration is encouraged but not required. Should there be time at the end, we will open the floor to audience members who would like to read.

If you have any questions, please contact Steve Paling at spaling@tcpl.org.

The 16th annual Spring Writes Literary Festival will feature over 100 local and regional writers, in over 40 literary themed events. 20 live panels, readings, workshops, performances and happenings will take place in downtown Ithaca locations from Thursday, May 2nd to Sunday, May 5th with Zoom events from May 11th to the 18th. Writing workshops, both Zoom and live continue through September.

The Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County (CAP) organized the first Festival in 2009 in collaboration with the New York State Council on the Arts to shine a light on the abundance of literary talent in our region and to bring writers and audiences together. It has grown from 12 events that first year to 40 events in recent years.
