Program Description

About this event:

Explore the secrets of the library in this in-person writing workshop for ages 8-11 given by author Anne Mazer. Drawing inspiration from pictures, participants will have space to respond to several creative writing prompts and share their work with others if they wish. Notebooks and pencils will be provided, but feel free to bring your own notebook and favorite pen or pencil if you prefer! Curiosity and imagination are the keys to unlocking the secrets of the library!  This program runs for 2 consecutive Saturdays; feel free to register for one or both sessions.

Anne Mazer is the author of forty-four books for young readers, including The Amazing Days of Abby Hayes series, The Salamander Room, the Sister Magic series, and co-author, with Ellen Potter, of Spilling Ink: A Handbook for Young Writers.  Anne has collaborated with library staff to present the Secrets of the Library program for several years, sharing new creative writing prompts each time. If you've joined before and enjoyed the program be sure to join again as it is different every time!
