Program Description

About this event:

View the latest exhibits at TCPL, and meet curator Paulina Melechkina and artists involved in the new exhibit "Clouds Over Ithaca," and artists Gail Brisson and Lorna Brain!

“Clouds Over Ithaca,” curated by local artist and scientist Paulina Melechkina, is dedicated to our unique status as one of the cloudiest regions in the United States. Work by local artists in a variety of mediums can be viewed alongside scientific explanations of our region’s cloud coverage and topography, as well as activities for citizen scientists of all ages. The exhibit can be viewed in the Avenue of the Friends.

Gail Brisson creates prints using a gel press, experimenting freely with layers of color and texture. The resulting collages are inspired by Brisson’s studies at Ithaca Karate Harmony with Nature School as well as her love of plants. Her works can be viewed on the curved Gallery Wall adjacent to the Avenue.

Lorna Brain is an award-winning watercolor artist whose decades-long practice has been an anchor while raising a family as a full-time nurse, and later while recovering from four complex brain surgeries. Her works can be viewed in the North Reading Room.

All three exhibits will be on display at TCPL through February 2024.
