KidsProgram Description
About this event:
The Lenni Lenape people keep objects that help recall their stories in beautifully decorated leather pouches called storyteller bags. In this workshop led by Yvonne Wakim Dennis, children will make their own storyteller bags. Participants are invited to think about something that they would like people to know about them, their family or a memorable time in their lives and to bring an object that will remind them of that story. Together children will construct a storytelling bag and write the story. When finished, they will add the objects to their bags and participants can tell their stories to the others.
Yvonne Wakim Dennis (Cherokee/Sand Hill/Syrian) is an educator, social worker and award-winning author of non-fiction books for children and adults.
This program is best suited for children ages 8-12. Registration is required and wearing a mask is requested.
