About this event:
In this interactive workshop, participants will learn about community care to better support their LGBTQQIA+ siblings. You'll learn about:
- What community care is
- Why community care is important
- What community care looks like in practice
- Incorporating sustainability into care to avoid burnout + boundary work
- How to practice several community care skills, including: community care plans, support menus, & check-ins
- How to ask for care & how to offer care
- Feelings that might come up throughout this process
About the Presenter
Karina Hagelin is a disabled nonbinary queer femme artist, educator, keynote speaker, librarian, & survivor. Their interests include radical vulnerability, friendship, gossip as a site of resistance, disability, community care, self-love, trauma healing + recovery, zines, & creativity.
Karina’s expansive body of work includes making zines about healing, self + community care, & disability; a podcast about C-PTSD & trauma recovery; workshops on trauma-informed librarianship, radical vulnerability, & community care; the Survivor Affirmation Deck; & a weekly-ish newsletter.
