Program Description

About this event:

Join Harpist Lisa Fenwick for an enchanting morning of classical and Celtic harp selections. Selections will be performed on both pedal and Celtic lever harps. Lisa will also host a chance for audience members to try the harp at the end of the concert.

Lisa Fenwick is a harpist based in Ithaca. She performs often throughout the region on both classical pedal harp and Celtic lever harp. She is frequently found giving recitals or playing for various community organizations and plays extensively throughout the Finger Lakes and Central New York at weddings and numerous private events.

Originally drawn to the harp while playing flute in a flute and harp duo in college, Lisa began the study of harp soon after receiving her degree in flute performance. After years of serious study of both pedal and lever harp, Lisa enjoys sharing her knowledge and love of the harp and teaches harp to students of all ages. Lisa has small rental harps available to make it easier for her students to begin to play the harp.

Lisa also teaches flute to all levels, including Kinderflute, an early start flute program for children as young as age 5. She also teaches piano to beginners and intermediates of all ages. In addition to her private studio Lisa currently teaches flute and piano at Namaste Montessori in Trumansburg and in the past has taught flute at SUNY Cortland as well as at the Community School of Music and Arts in Ithaca for over 20 years.  For 14 years she also ran her own early childhood music program called Kindermusik of Ithaca.

The concert at the library is appropriate for all ages and will include classical and Celtic music. If anyone is interested there will be a chance at the end to try a small harp.
