Program Description

About this event:

Join Museum educators Andrea Murray and Carol Hockett to see the work behind the new exhibition "Powering Exchange: Teaching Objects in Transformation." Combining works of art from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, the installation explores how art across cultures may confer power and prestige, facilitate trade and exchange, or effect bodily, social, or spiritual transformation.

Part 1 will be an in-person lecture at TCPL; Part 2 will be an in-person tour of the new exhibition at the Johnson Museum (capacity will be limited and masks required).

Registration for both sessions will be taken through TCPL. The Johnson session will require participants to share proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test upon arrival per Cornell's Covid event guidelines.
