About this event:

Held in conjunction with the Ithaca College English department and the Pippi to Ripley Conference, join us for a discussion of the popular YA novel, Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor, and whether or not it is the African "Harry Potter". 

Nnedi Okorafor is an award-winning Afrofuturist writer, the author of the YA series Akata Witch AND the new head writer for the Marvel's Black Panther comics. 

Pippi to Ripley: Fantastic and Feminist Popular Culture is an academic conference in its fifth year at Ithaca College and features presentations devoted to fictional characters in all media, including comics, films, television and video games as well as in folklore, mythology and children’s and young adult literature.
