Program Description
About this event:
Tompkins County Whole Health (TCWH) invites the community to attend a Community Engagement Session with New York State Office of Mental Health (NYS OMH). These events are free and open to the public; light refreshments will be served. ASL interpretation will be provided. Please register in advance for any additional accessibility needs, including but not limited to assisted listening devices, ASL interpretation, interpretation in another language, and mobility assistance.
These Community Engagement Sessions provide an opportunity for the community to meet with representatives from NYS OMH and TCWH. Feedback sessions will offer the opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas about mental health in your community. Children, youth, adults, older adults, and families are encouraged to attend. There will be breakout groups specifically for young people. Small group discussions will focus on various topics of interest, including peer support services, young people’s mental health, crisis services, and the mental health workforce. Breakout groups will be facilitated by local mental health providers and staff from NYS OMH.
There are two session options; both will be held in-person at the Tompkins County Public Library, located at 101 E. Green St. (downtown Ithaca):
- Thursday, October 9th, 6pm-8pm
- Friday, October 10th, 9am-11am
Please register to attend: https://tinyurl.com/nhf7avdv
TCWH’s Deputy Commissioner of Mental Health Harmony Ayers-Friedlander, stated, “The sessions are open to all community members! OMH especially wants to hear from people who receive or have received mental health services, as well as people who have wanted to get services but haven’t. If you are a peer support worker or other mental health provider, advocate, or anyone else who works with groups or people who may be interested, please share this information, and feel free to join the sessions too!”
