Program Description

About this event:

In celebration of AAPI month TCPL is highlighting the founder of the YoYo, Pedro Flores! Pedro immigrated from the Philipines in 1927 to attend law school at UC Berkley. Instead of becoming a lawyer, Pedro ended up populerizing the yoyo and opening a toy company. The company is still around today and is know as Duncan Toys!  One of the most popular toys from Duncan isn't just the yoyo, but also the kendama. The kendama is a skill toy like the yoyo and originated in the Edo period of Japan.

At this event participants will have the opportunity to learn classic yoyo tricks and how to kendama! No experience with yoyos or kendamas required.
