Henrik N. DulleaHenrik N. Dullea, Ph.D
President

Retired Vice President for University Relations at Cornell and former Director of State Operations and Policy Management for Governor Mario M. Cuomo

"The Library is a major component in the educational and cultural life of Tompkins County. Its resources are substantial, but the demands on those resources from children, teens, adults and seniors in our community far exceed what it can presently provide. I look forward to working with the Library's outstanding staff, its many friends and my fellow trustees to insure that we do everything we can to meet those demands to the fullest extent possible. Ezra Cornell's first major gift to his community was the founding of this library; it must be no less our priority today."

Marcy E. RosenkrantzMarcy E. Rosenkrantz, Ph.D.
Vice President
Retired Director of Library Systems, Cornell University Library

"Books and libraries have always been an integral part of my life. In college, graduate school, and as a researcher I found libraries to be places for quiet study. There I experienced the excitement of discovery when my literature searches brought me to resources I hadn't known existed.

As a high school science teacher and throughout my work since then I've been keenly interested in the ways in which technology can contribute to learning. I am honored to serve as a trustee and I hope to help enhance the technology services at TCPL, even in the face of fiscal constraints. In addition, I hope to help strengthen bridges between TCPL and the colleges and universities in the area."

Thomas B. ColbertThomas B. Colbert
Secretary

Real Estate Development/Management

"The library is among a community's most important institutions, serving everyone at every stage of their lives. I hope to help the library maintain its central position in our lives in this time of fiscal constraint, as well as make plans for a future when greater resources are available."

Nathan FawcettNathan Fawcett
Treasurer
Special Assistant to the Provost for State-Related Issues at Cornell University

"The Library is a primary community resource, accessible by all segments of the County's population, affording access to a wide spectrum of print and electronic media, and to information of central importance to our lives. As a trustee, I am honored to help sustain this public asset and guide its development for future generations. I have a love of libraries, from the time I first discovered the Leatherstocking Tales on a shelf, to responsibility in the State Budget Division for statewide public library aid and library support across the SUNY and CUNY systems, to sorting the poetry and literary criticism sections for the Friends of the Library book sale. "

Eric AcreeEric Acree
Africana Librarian, Cornell University

I remember when I was a teenager living in Spanish Harlem, New York, a public librarian turned me on to the book I Am Third (the autobiography of Gale Sayers).  This book captured my imagination, and motivated me to be a regular visitor of not only that small branch library in Spanish Harlem, but other libraries throughout New York City. In entering through the arches of these library doors, I discovered that libraries were not only in the business of collecting books, but that there were other gems to enjoy and examine. Wherever I have lived, public libraries have had a positive impact on my life. To a large extent it has not only helped shaped who I am, but even what I do professionally. I feel that it is an honor to be able to serve as a Library Board Trustee of the Tompkins County Public Library, and give something back.

Susan CurrieSusan Currie
Associate Director of University Libraries
Binghamton University (State University of New York)

As a child and young adult, I spent many hours in my local library reading of faraway lands, other countries and lives. The collective wisdom and knowledge of the librarians there inspired me to become a librarian. I seek to emulate their willingness to help anyone with any information need, no matter how small. Public libraries are the heart of our local communities and it is a privilege and honor to serve on the Board of the Tompkins County Public Library.

"The Tompkins County Public Library is a wonderful repository of information, which can inspire and inform the consumers of our many library programs and services. My goal as a trustee is to work with the Community, Board, Director and Staff to ensure that these programs and services are fully supported and that community members have free access to the many opportunities that our library can provide."

Barbara PageBarbara Page

"Serving on the Library Board is a small compensation for the pleasure of browsing the shelves of our library and borrowing a thousand books over the years. I want to retain the vitality and depth of the collection of books and AV materials as well as foster access to information through technology despite the budget challenges."

Rochelle ProujanskyRochelle Proujansky

The vitality of a community turns on its ability to provide for the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual well-being of its members.

Our public library provides limitless opportunities for individuals and families, public institutions and private enterprise, to grow and develop to the mutual benefit of all.

Members of the Board of Trustees are charged with ensuring that, in a unique interface of public and private support, and true to the powerful vision of Ezra Cornell, such opportunities be available and accessible, from generation to generation.

Nancy SchulerNancy Schuler

My family has  lived in Tompkins County since 1967. I have been an elected official for 20 years, serving on the City of Ithaca Common Council and for the past 16 years, a County Legislator. While on the County Legislature, I chaired the Library Re-location Committee, was a member of the Library Construction Committee, and a liaison to the Library Board of Trustees.

I have always considered myself a community advocate/activist. The words “quality of life” continue to be very important issues for me and this county.

The Tompkins County Public Library  has been an important part of our family’s life. I have memories of visiting the library on West State Street at the Sons of Italy Hall and Miss Jean’s story hour at the “old library.”

I am a frequent visitor to TCPL and have a strong attachment to its physical and fiscal well-being. The 9:55 AM crowd at the front door reaffirms for me the importance of the library for our community.

Michael StammMichael Stamm
President, Tompkins County Area Development

Growing up in Lockport, NY, I spent an amazing amount of time in that community’s public library. I’d go there almost every day on my walk home from school and still distinctly recall the excitement of finding that next great book to read. Now, though quite a bit older, I still value that experience, and I am happy to be a small part of our community’s library; it is something to treasure.

John VineyardJohn Vineyard
President, Sunlake Investment Management

"I would like to use my experience in business to help the Library continue to meet its many current challenges and strengthen its performance in the areas of fund raising, financial management and operations. I’d like to help it take advantage of what new technologies can do to help improve and broaden availability of the Library’s services to the Tompkins Community."

David WeilDavid Weil
Director of Web, Systems and Departmental Services, Information Technology Services, Ithaca College

"Access to information and learning resources is a vital ingredient for our community and any learned society. The Tompkins County Public Library is a wonderful community asset and an important part of a vibrant downtown. Like any resource, the library must continually assess the landscape and evolve itself as technology, societal concerns, and economic situations change. I look forward to working with the other library board members and the library's talented and dedicated staff to further its place in our community."
