Tax Help

The Tompkins County Public Library has a limited supply of free Federal and New York State tax forms and instruction booklets. The library also has loose-leaf volumes of most Federal and New York State tax forms which are provided as a reference service. These tax forms may be photocopied for 20 cents per page.

Economic Stimulus Payments http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=177937,00.html#Basic
Starting in May, the Treasury will begin sending economic stimulus payments to more than 130 million households. To receive a payment, taxpayers must have a valid Social Security number, $3,000 of income and file a 2007 federal tax return. Find out more at the above website or stop by the reference desk.

Lifelong and R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) will provide free tax help to Tompkins County residents who are senior citizens, people with limited incomes, and individuals with disabilities, at the following locations:

If you are single and earn less than $25,000 or a family earning under $40,000, Alternatives Federal Credit Union can prepare your Federal and State Income Tax Returns.
