Parking

There are two parking garages close to the Library - the newly-renovated Green Street garage and the like-new Cayuga Street garage.There are also metered parking spaces near the library on Green Street and Cayuga Street.* Parking in these areas includes:

  • Free parking on evenings and weekends at meters and in garages;
  • First hour is free in all City garages (Seneca Garage at corner of Tioga and Seneca Streets), and Cayuga Garage (across from the Holiday Inn on S. Cayuga St.);
  • All garages charge $1/hr. after the first hour (between 2:30 AM and 6:00 PM with attendant on-duty until 8:00 PM);
  • For detailed parking information and a map of downtown Ithaca, go to: Ithaca is ... DOWNTOWN! http://www.downtownithaca.com/stay/parking.htm

Here are some suggestions which others have found helpful. If you have a handicapped-parking sticker, there are handicapped accessible spaces on Cayuga Street and next to City Hall (across from the library.) Elderly people can be dropped off at the front entrance, where it is a short walk to the door, and where two mart-carts are readily available. Some seniors use public transportation; Gadabout and City buses will drop off at the front entrance.

*The fifteen minute parking in front of the library has been taken over temporarily by TCAT, due to the disruption along the Cayuga Green Project. The meters on Cayuga Street next to the library have been removed, which provides more fifteen minute parking.
