Tompkins County Public Library invites you to the opening reception of the The Art of Teaching - An Exhibition by ICSD Art Teachers

Tompkins County Public Library is pleased to announce the opening of the third art exhibit in their 2006 series which has been made possible in part with public funds from the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County and the NY State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program. This exhibit, The Art of Teaching – An exhibition by ICSD Art Teachers has been curated by Carol Spence, and is sponsored by McNamara’s Office Products and Art Supplies. The Opening Reception will take place in the Borg Warner Community Room at the library from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday July 20, and the exhibit will be on display through September 30.

ICSD Art Teachers are as diverse as the students they teach. Their teaching approaches vary and so do their artistic styles. While this exhibit offers a range of media and subject matter, it also reveals their shared passion for art making and learning. Whether working in their own basement or kitchen "studios" over weekends and vacations or immersed in classroom projects, art teachers are always engaged with some phase of the artistic process. This collaboration of energy and inspiration informs their work as artists and teachers. This exhibit is an opportunity to enjoy the powerful images that emerge from that vital connection. Artists make sense of their lives through the serious interplay of life and work. Learning is the work of art and art teachers do it for life.
