Library Changes Borg Warner Booking Procedures

The Tompkins County Public Library Board of Trustees has made the following policy changes with regard to booking the Borg Warner Community Meeting Rooms.

Organizations and individuals do not need to submit pre-approval forms. A reservation request form is all that is needed to process the booking. The reservation form is available on-line at www.tcpl.org.

AV equipment fees will be charged on a per use basis; the annual fee of $50 has been eliminated.

No discounts will be provided to those booking the room on a regular annual basis.

Payment can be done via check or credit card; cash will no longer be accepted.

Bookings which are cancelled with less than 10 days notice will no longer result in a credit for future bookings.

The library’s Borg Warner community room is a heavily-used community service, available to profit and non-profit groups who are located in the Finger Lakes region. Rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. The complete Borg Warner Meeting Room Policy including rates and charges, as well as a calendar of events showing room availability is on the library’s website www.tcpl.org.

Sunday Hours at Library to End February 12

The Tompkins County Public Library will re-open on Sundays, starting on January 8, from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. due to a grant from NYS Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton. Since 1995, Sunday hours have been funded with a combination of private donations and state grants.

However, the NYS funding is sufficient for only six Sundays. Sunday, February 12th will be the last day of Sunday hours in 2006 unless the February 7th funding referendum is approved by voters.

Passage of the funding referendum ensures that Sunday hours will become a regular part of our operating hours, no longer at risk of being eliminated. That is one of two tangible components of the funding referendum that voters are being asked to approve: more hours of operation, and more books and materials to bolster our depleted collections.

Library Announces Amnesty Day on January 14

In celebration of the Tompkins County Public Library’s 5th anniversary of its move to the new library, fines, fees and processing charges on overdue library materials will be waived on items which are returned to the library on Saturday, January 14, 2006 between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
