So Like Us: Stories of the Chimpanzee Experience

We share 99 percent of our DNA, but how much do we really know about Chimpanzees? Join the Tompkins County Public Library, Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 6:30 pm as we welcome Diana Goodrich and J.B. Mulcahy for an informative discussion about our closest living relatives.

Goodrich and Mulcahy have eleven years combined experience working with chimpanzees. They earned masters degrees from Central Washington University where they studied at the acclaimed Chimpanzee and Human Communication Institute, and they have worked at the world-renowned Fauna Foundation, a chimpanzee rehabilitation center in Quebec, which rescues chimps from biomedical research facilities.

The TCPL program, So Like Us: Stories of the Chimpanzee Experience, will include stories of Mulcahy and Goodrich’s personal experiences working with chimps, video clips, and a discussion of new discoveries and the current plight of chimpanzees.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information contact Carrie Wheeler at (607) 272-4557 extension 248.
