Temporary Disruption of Library Service
The Tompkins County Public Library will be upgrading Polaris, its computer system, June 12th and 13th. Polaris is the system used for registering patron information, checking materials in and out, keeping and searching our inventory of materials, and allowing items to be renewed. The library will still be checking materials in and out on a back-up system, and Internet access will not be affected. Services that will be temporarily unavailable:
· Renewals
· Fine payment
· Hold placement
· Catalog searching, both in the library and from home
· Database access
· Self-checkout machines
During the upgrade period, June 12th and June 13th, it will be necessary for library users to have their library card in hand when checking out.. The Finger Lakes Library System, who owns and administers the Polaris system, plans to have the system operational by Thursday, June 14th.
