Teens are Reading!

Area teens were busy reading this summer and we have the proof: 373 book reviews were submitted to the Tompkins County Public Library for its first teen summer reading program. Teens were asked to read 2 books and write 2 mini book reviews for a chance to be entered into a raffle to win an MP3 Player, a gift certificate from the Bookery II, or a gift certificate from the newly established Finger Lakes Running Company. Almost 90 teens took the challenge, submitting both paper and online book reviews. The winners are:

Emma Pure - grand prize winner of the MP3 Player the library received as part of a grant from Senator George Winner
Elisha Riley – winner of a $15.00 gift certificate generously donated by the Bookery II
Ariana Shapiro – winner of a $15.00 gift certificate generously donated by the Bookery II
Zoe McAlear – winner of a $10.00 gift certificate generously donated by Finger Lakes Running Company

The summer reading book reviews are displayed in a binder in the library’s teen area for perusal; online submissions can be viewed on the teen book-blog @ www.tcpl.org/teen/imoblog/index.html.

Teens are encouraged to continue their reading and writing throughout the year; new book reviews will be entered into a raffle and starting in October, a winner will be drawn each month to receive a $15.00 gift certificate from a local bookstore. Book review slips can be found in the teen area and can be submitted online @ www.tcpl.org/teen/imo.html . For more information contact Adelle Leise @ aleise@tcpl.org or 272-4557 x 277.
