This event will discuss some aspects of modern 20th century Korean history; from the Portsmouth Treaty to the end of the Choson Dynasty, the annexation of Korea by Japan in 1910, the rise of the Korean independence movement, the repression of the March 1st struggle, the exploitation of Korea (1910-45 ), the resistance to the Japanese occupation, the U.S. Military occupation (1945-50 ) , the creation on the Rhee government in the southern part of Korea and the events that led up to the war in 1950 .
