Job Search and Conquer - May 10th from 2 to 4 p.m.:  Want to learn the ins and outs of online job searching?  Need to get the hang of online applications?  The workshop will cover the basics of online job searching, filling out online applications, creating and using professional email accounts, and offer overall guidance when searching for a job.

 

Resumes - The Basics - May 31st from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.:  How do I make a good resume?  Learn what goes into making a good resume, see some examples, and start to work on your own. 

 

Resumes - Formatting and Creating One on the Computer - June 14th from 2 to 4 p.m.:  Now that I know what to put on my resume, how do I get it onto the computer?  Learn how to create and format a resume on the computer.  Attendees should feel comfortable using a mouse and doing some light typing. 

 

Cover Letters and References - June 28th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.:  Cover letters and references are a huge part of applying for jobs.  Learn what goes into a cover letter and references, and how to format both on a computer.

 

Sarah Bonawitz is the BEAM (Bridge to Employment and Academic Marketplace) Outreach Coordinator for Tompkins County, and helps students who have disconnected from school or training, return.  Her office is located in Tompkins Workforce New York.  Sarah provides customized training and employment assistance in the following areas:  assistance with returning to school and navigating student debt/financial aid, orientation to college support staff and academic counseling, labor market information, job site tours and shadowing, advocacy and career coaching, and career assessment tools.
